How to Install a Helmet Visor Sticker
Racing Helmet Art visor stickers are pre-cut for the helmet brand selected when ordering and printed on premium RapidAir air-release vinyl.
Recommended method: No transfer tape is required. Dry installation usually provides the easiest and most durable result.
What You Will Need
- A clean microfiber cloth
- Mild neutral soap and water, or a visor-safe water-based cleaner
- Masking tape
- A plastic squeegee or a soft cloth
- A hair dryer, if minor shaping is required
Important: Do not use brake cleaner, fuel, aggressive solvents or unapproved alcohol-based cleaners on the visor. Always follow the helmet or visor manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.
1. Check the Sticker Version
Before removing the backing paper, confirm that you received the correct version for your helmet brand.
Our main visor shapes are available for:
- Arai
- OMP/Bell
- Zamp
- Additional helmet models on selected products
OMP and Bell use the same sticker shape in our current range.
Place the sticker against the outside of the visor without removing the backing paper. Check that its curve follows the upper edge and that both ends finish in an appropriate position near the visor mounting points.
2. Remove the Visor
Removing the visor from the helmet generally makes installation easier and allows you to work on a stable surface.
Follow the helmet manufacturer’s instructions when removing and reinstalling the visor. Keep all screws and fittings in a safe place.
3. Clean and Dry the Visor
Remove dust, fingerprints, grease and other contamination from the outside of the visor.
Use mild neutral soap and water or a visor-safe water-based cleaner. Rinse when necessary and dry the visor completely with a clean microfiber cloth.
The surface must be completely clean, dry and free from lint before installation.
4. Position the Sticker
Place the sticker on the visor with its backing paper still attached.
Align it with the upper edge of the visor, leaving suitable clearance around mounting bolts, pivots and locking mechanisms.
Use small pieces of masking tape to mark the correct position or temporarily hold the sticker in place.
Check the alignment from the front and from both sides before continuing.
5. Begin From One Side
Remove only a small section of the backing paper from one end of the sticker.
Apply the exposed section near one side of the visor while keeping the rest of the sticker aligned.
Press it down gently once you are satisfied with its position.
Tip: Do not remove the entire backing paper at once.
6. Apply the Sticker Gradually
Slowly remove more of the backing paper while pressing the sticker onto the visor from one side to the other.
Use your finger, a soft cloth or a plastic squeegee to apply light and even pressure.
RapidAir channels allow trapped air to escape through the adhesive. Small air pockets can usually be pushed towards the nearest edge.
Avoid pulling or stretching the sticker unnecessarily, as this can change its length and alignment.
7. Reposition if Necessary
The sticker can normally be lifted and repositioned during the early stages of installation.
Peel it back slowly and carefully. Avoid repeatedly removing the same section or pulling strongly, as this can stretch or damage the vinyl.
Once the sticker has been firmly pressed down, repositioning becomes more difficult.
8. Use Heat Only When Required
Most visor stickers can be installed without heat.
If a small area needs additional shaping, gently warm the vinyl with a hair dryer. Keep the heat source moving and use only moderate heat.
Do not overheat the sticker or the visor.
9. Apply Final Pressure
Once the sticker is correctly positioned, press firmly over the complete surface, particularly around the edges.
Check that no edge interferes with:
- Visor mounting points
- Locking mechanisms
- Ventilation openings
- The helmet shell or rubber seal
Allow the adhesive time to bond before using or cleaning the visor.
Wet Installation
Wet installation is possible but is not normally required because RapidAir vinyl is designed for dry application.
Using water can delay the adhesive bond and make the sticker more likely to move during installation. Dry application is therefore recommended.
Removing the Sticker
Warm the sticker gently with a hair dryer and peel it back slowly.
Do not use aggressive solvents on the visor. If adhesive residue remains, use only a cleaning product approved by the helmet or visor manufacturer.
Inspect the visor after removal. Do not use a visor that is cracked, deeply scratched or otherwise damaged.
